Gold hawkers on tv

United States Gold Vault on tv today w/ their gold cheerleader trying to work people up over getting (for some reason they appear to be called something else on the internet http://www.usmoneyreserve.com/why_government_gold.php )

Sorry, watching Kinky Friendman on CSPAN and laughing so hopefully this thread makes some sense when I'm finished.:D Looks like he is considering running for Texas govenor again - hope he does and wins.

The glod hawker would pepper his sales pitch with a few truths (like inflation 'can' affect the gold price). But the negatives that might go unnoticed by the 'yet to be fully informed'

1. Handling w/ his fingers what looks like 1 oz gold coins (although it appears they are selling 5 $5 eagles w/ Westpoint mark - I am assuming it is from 2006) and dropping the coins on top of each. No one w/ any knowledge would do that to their coins - it was a psychological display.

2. "one year one design" from west point - making a big point about this - big deal - so the mint made an uncircilated eagle one year from the west point mint. The mintage is not yet listed in the coin book but I suspect it will be about the same as previous years.

3. never specific about the year of the coin (but I think it is probably 2006) and they are referencing a gold price around $600 back in Feb 2007. The commercial doesn't reflect a current date and price. I expect people will then call in and be told that was an old commerical and price has gone up like we told you it would, it will now cost you $165 per $5 eagle and there are 5 coins in the set. :bath:

4. Fear mongering sales pitch - might be a nuclear bomb go off - get gold now - there are so many things happening that will make gold go up.

It looked like a fancy boiler room operation, flag on the wall, pics of their gold magazine on the wall, your can feel secure buying from us because we have Barney Fife standing watch over the vault contents.

Wonder if this is the top?????

No, and no. Furthermore, no.

The top occurs when J6P buys in, but there is little J6P purchasing yet. Many are still contributing a little to their 401Ks each month.

At the top, you will head down to the coin dealer to sell some, but, unable to get near the door, sell for cash to someone standing in line.

I agree, not yet but you can feel the interest of J6P starting. People who have known for years that I was into PM are starting to ask me questions about how to buy. The rush isn't on yet but the first stirrings can be felt.

Okay, you got me!

I was enjoying the stuff about the trailer office, and Barney Fife guarding the holdings. Let my guard down.
